希臘國慶日
三月二十五日是希臘國慶日，好高興呀！希臘國慶又與我有何關係呵？傻la ！一個連中國國慶也不會慶祝的我又怎麼會替人家高興呢！實情是今日全國休息，泰狄熊不用上班，是他今個月第二個休息日。

啊不好了！全國休息即系所有古蹟、博物館都關門，那我們做什麼好呢？
有！明天開古！今日要講國慶嗎！

至於希臘人怎麼樣慶祝國慶?
昨天晚上與泰狄熊的朋友G先生及其家人吃飯，除了G先生及太太，還有他三名子女，兩位公子都在父親公司幫忙，生意與日本、美國、香港、新加坡等；女兒還在讀書、剛完成大學課程。她告訴我大多數希臘人會去國會廣場看三軍軍操、有例牌的軍樂隊演奏，民族舞蹈表演，還有小男孩、小女孩穿上民族服裝巡遊，市民在傍搖旗吶喊。
我問她早上是否會上教堂做禮拜時，她告訴我國慶是與宗教無關時，立刻被哥哥更正，難得糊塗！這年輕人忘記了這麼重要的歷史，她讀 International Relations的，莫非土耳其化了?

希臘被土耳其人統治了差不多四百年後，是 Patra 市 大主教 Germanos 於 天使報喜日(the Annunciation of Virgin Mary, March 25) 的宗教慶典盛宴上宣佈希臘人解放的，主教向籃、白旗祝福，那面像徵民間戰士的誓言”自由或死亡。

查實我邊有甘醒，連中國歷史也不大記得清楚，怎會0甘心水清，知道希臘國慶日來由！我只是問她星期日早上否會上教做禮拜啊！

March 25, 1821: Greek National day.
The 19th century painting by Theodore Vryzakis (at Beaki Museum) depicts the symbolic beginning of the national revolution which gave birth to modern Greece after nearly 400 years of Ottoman rule following the pillage of Constantinople by the Turks in 1453.

The actual historical events  refers to bishops Germanos celebrations in 1821 for the liberation of the city Patra, in conjunction with the religious feast of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary on March 25, following early news of the revolution’s first victory against the Turks at Kalavryta.

The act of divine grace signified by the Annunciation, was considered by the revolutionary leasers as the ideal symbolic timing to stir up popular enthusiasm among ordinary Greeks for the arduous years of struggle that were to follow until freedom was finally won.
